A Good Foundation
At Mandalay, we believe that quality starts at the foundation. That’s why we prioritize energy efficiency from the ground up. The average home can lose a significant amount of energy through the concrete slab. We address this issue by using slab-edge insulation to reduce thermal loss into the surrounding soil. Not only does this improve the energy efficiency of our homes and control indoor humidity it also helps to lower energy costs for our residents.
Sealed Up Tight
Energy efficiency is all about keeping energy inside your home, and one of the best ways to do that is by sealing air leaks. At Mandalay, we use safe, non-toxic spray foam insulation in the exterior walls and the underside of the roof. Not only is spray foam a superior insulator, it also helps to seal air gaps that other types of insulation, like batting or blown-in insulation, cannot. To take things a step further, we pressurize the home and introduce an aerosolized sealant called AeroBarrier that fills even the tiniest cracks, resulting in the tightest homes on the market. This innovative process helps to keep energy inside the home and improve overall energy efficiency.

Natural light is essential for a bright, inviting, and healthy home, and at Mandalay Homes, we understand the importance of letting it in. We use efficient low-E windows and incorporate creative architectural design in our homes to offer a wide range of window, patio door, and sliding glass wall options. This allows us to let in plenty of natural light while also keeping the heat out, creating comfortable living spaces that are both inviting and energy efficient. Whether you prefer traditional windows, sliding glass doors, or walls of windows, we have options that will allow you to bring the beauty of the outdoors inside and enjoy the benefits of natural light.
Creative Architecture
Our goal is to create homes that are comfortable, energy-efficient, and visually appealing. Through our creative architectural design, we are able to make our homes more beautiful and more efficient at the same time. Extended covered patios, structurally shaded front entrances, and reduced roof penetrations are all design elements that you might not immediately recognize as energy features but play an important role in reducing energy demand and improving comfort.
HVAC
Using state of the art HVAC technology our homes are extremely efficient and provide exceptional comfort. Every Mandalay home is equipped with an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) to cycles and conditions fresh air into the into the home improving air quality and enhancing the efficiency of the HVAC system.
The key to energy efficiency is straight forward in concept. First, keep the energy in the home. Second, use as much free energy as possible. Making that concept a reality in a market-competitive home is the exciting part.
